Australia yesterday launched a new $18 million cable connectivity and resilience centre to help undersea cable networks in the Indo-Pacific area.

Sunshine Coast cable landing station build begins

Construction is now underway on the $6.6 million cable landing station, the major land-based facility for the $35 million Sunshine Coast International Broadband Submarine Cable network.

Palisade takes stake in Hawaiki cable

Infrastructure manager Palisade Investment Partners has taken a significant ownership interest in the Hawaiki Submarine Cable Limited Partnership, with the signing of a binding agreement to become equity partners on Thursday.

Australia and the Solomon Islands will sign a deal on Wednesday for the first stage of construction of an undersea cable system linking the Solomons and Papua New Guinea to Sydney. It will cost Australian taxpayers in excess of $100 million in toto.

Basslink dispute goes to arbitration

Japan-Guam-Australia cable system build underway

Construction of the Japan-Guam-Australia Cable System has officially commenced, with the 9500-kilometre fibre optic undersea cable designed to deliver a capacity of more than 36 terabits per second (Tbps).

The Basslink Interconnector, the undersea data and telecommunications cable that connects Tasmania to the Australian mainland, has been hit by an outage after routine maintenance was begun on 24 March.

Superloop Hong Kong TKO Express cable goes live

Australian dark fibre connectivity and digital services provider Superloop has announced that the TKO Express, the only domestic submarine cable connecting Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate and Chai Wan in Hong Kong, is now live.
