Academic technology solutions provider Turnitin unveiled its new AI paraphrasing detection feature, integrated within Turnitin’s AI writing capabilities.
Internet-based plagiarism detection service provider Turnitin is helping private education organisation NextEd to combat actual and potential academic misconduct including detection of AI writing tools like ChatGPT—across a cohort of 15,000 domestic and international students.
The ACCC is concerned with plagiarism checker Turnitin’s proposed acquisition of Ouriginal, noting that it will substantially lessen competition in an already highly concentrated market and may lead to higher prices or reduced service levels for the higher education sector.
Australian universities are set to start using technology to detect whether students have used third parties to complete their assessments — what is known as contract cheating — with Turnitin, an academic integrity technology firm, saying that the software had been created by local academics themselves.
