Consumers and small businesses made 14,671 phone and Internet complaints between October and December 2023, an increase of 13.4 percent compared to the previous quarter, but a 17.9 percent decrease compared to the same time last year, according to the latest data from the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO).

Australia’s telcos continue to achieve very low complaint rate numbers from customers, despite continued cost-of-living pressures having contributed to increased complaints in other industry sectors, accordng to the latest Complaints in Context report from telecommunications industry body Communications Alliance.

Telecommunications industry body Communications Alliance has welcomed a further 16.5% fall in the volume of customer complaints to the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) at a time of “financial stress for many Australians”.
