Machine data logger, searcher, and analyser, Splunk has entered a definitive agreement to be acquired by network giant Cisco in an all-cash transaction at approximately US$30 billion in enterprise value.
At the recent Splunk .conf23, iTWire took the opportunity to chat with Gary Steele, the recently appointed President and CEO of the company.
The opening keynote at Splunk’s .conf23 gave us a partnership with Microsoft, a new OT data accumulation device and a major foray into AI.
Splunk Enterprise 9.0 has reached general availability, meaning it’s out right now for Splunk cloud and on-premises users alike. The product includes more than 40 major new features and over 100 additional enhancements. This includes federated search across non-Splunk data and strong unification of security and observability.
The last 12 months have seen normally stable Splunk go through a whirlwind of change in the top brass but new CEO Gary Steele says he sees his role as a 10+ year commitment and is here to stay, while new ANZ Exec Mark Troselj sees the region undergoing growth.
Splunk announced Gary Steele will be its new CEO as of 11 April 2022. Steele was the founding CEO of Proofpoint taking it from an early-stage start-up to a global, publicly-traded security-as-a-service provider. Steele also held leadership roles at Hewlett Packard, Sun Microsystems, Sybase, and Portera.
Security firm Proofpoint has been acquired by private equity investment firm Thoma Bravo in a cash transaction that values the tech firm at about US$12.3 billion (A$15.8 billion).
