Govt begins trial of myGovID digital identity system

The government has kicked off a pilot of its myGovID identity solution on the last day of October, with the trial open to people who have iPhones at the outset as a private, beta app is available for this operating system only. An Android app is expected to be issued next year and a Web interface to be provided after that.

DHS argues that Kaspersky ban should not be lifted

The US Department of Homeland Security has filed its response arguing against Kaspersky Lab's bid for a preliminary injunction to dismiss the ban on the use of its software in the US public service.

A US Congress committee has said it will issue a subpoena to the Department of Homeland Security if the latter does not provide its reasons for imposing a ban on software products from Kaspersky Lab. The request was made last year.

Citing "reputational and revenue impact of a Binding Operational Directive based on media reports, rumour and unsubstantiated allegations", Kaspersky Lab is fighting back and wants due process.
