SMSGlobal breaches SMS scam rules

Bulk messaging company SMSGlobal has been directed by Australia’s communication and media services regulator to comply with anti-scam rules after finding it breached the Reducing Scam Calls and Scam SMs Industry Code.

Electricity retailer M2 Energy Pty Ltd, trading as Dodo Power & Gas (Dodo) paid $82,500 in penalties after the ACCC issued six infringement notices to Dodo for alleged contraventions of the Electricity Retail Code of Conduct (the Code). Dodo has also provided an enforceable undertaking to the ACCC in which it has admitted it contravened the Code.

New Zealand competition regulator The Commerce Commission has filed proceedings in the High Court against One NZ - formerly Vodafone - for multiple breaches of the 111 Contact Code – some of which the Commission alleges are still ongoing.
